Hey girl hey
It's me Jenna. Sorry I suck so bad at updating you guys. Things have been out of this world busy lately.
Me and Jonathon spent a month in Michigan with Bean and my family. We got back to Utah on the 15th and packed for 3 days straight. It was so hot in Utah, I wanted to die moving all of those boxes (18!). We arrived in California Wednesday night and we are staying with his grandparents until we find a place (which could be forever).
I've been pretty cooped up in their little house in Pleasanton since we arrived. We did make a trip to Berkeley with his Aunt and Uncle the other night, and Bean saw the Pacific for the first time. We had fancy Japanese food; I felt a little out of place. I'm just used to Cafe Rio and the Zupes. I ate fish eggs without realizing it and then got really carsick on the way home. Knowing I had fish eggs in my stomach didn't help. Luckily I kept it down.
Right now I'm going a little crazy from his grandparents. They're the sweetest, but I forgot that they still think we're twelve. They make me warm milk for breakfast every morning. Breakfast starts at 10:00, so no sleeping in. I'm so jet lagged! They also keep telling us to clean our space up, but we don't have any room for our stuff. I need an apartment soon or we're all going to lose it.
Jonathon is working as an account manager for an organic dog shampoo company. He is in charge of all of the Bay Area accounts. We used the shampoo and conditioner on Bean last night and she's all fluffy now. She looks like a wolf pup, but she's full grown. Anyways, so Jonathon has been gone all yesterday and today. I watch Cash Cab, Wheel of Fortune, and the news with his grandparents. His grandma has a heavy French accent and she's deaf so its a little hard to communicate. Her favorite things are dark chocolate, South Park, and Snooki. "Oh you know the Snooki. Yeh, I like her, she is so funny with her hair." - Grandma Canada.
I went grocery shopping with Grandpa today and it took a lot longer than I would have liked because he's very stubborn and independent. He's well known at the Safeway (grocery store) and says he "knows it like the back of [his] hand." His little grocery list in hand, he would sing throughout the store and direct me where to go.
They sure love Bean, even though she barks a lot. You guys wouldn't believe how grown up she is looking. I developed some film and there was a puppy picture of her. She was so tiny! The roll also had some pictures of you guys. I'll have to put them on here when I can access a scanner.
Oh dear, Grandpa is trying to talk to Grandma right now. That's always funny because he has to yell at her a few times for her to understand.
Anyways, that's the latest here. I miss you guys and so does Bean. My best friends right now are Grandma and Grandpa, Jonathon and Bean. School starts at the end of August for me. There is a lot to do before then. I sure am tired.
Well, keep me updated on you guys. I bet you all had amazing summers!

ROOMIES! We miss you guys!
Hey roommates! How are you guys doing? Linds and I miss you guys soooo much and we talk about you all the time, like ALL the time. What are you guys up to? Jenna have you moved yet and what is the status with you? Mela how is Ecuador going? I hope that all is well. How are you doing these days?
Well we just got back from Jordan this week, it was amazing! We went and saw the Petra, Jordan River, and other Biblical things. It was blazing hot but it was worth it. We got to ride camels which was a highlight. Life in Jeru is splendid except that we have finals this week :( we are kinda peeing our pants but whatevs. We will make it through. We went to a Matisyahu concert this past week! It was so much fun and we saw so many indie people and we were like "Mela and Jenna would LOVE that guy and that guy" lets just say that had deep v-necks.
Lately we have started a trend of taking urban photos, like the ones that we always take. here is a little preview of them...
Love ya girls! And write back so we can read about your lives and BTW my blog is

Shalom
Hey Roomies!
So we are sitting in our Islam class and our professor is taking really fast and it is way over our heads, so Lindsey is writing jenny and I decided to update you guys on our adventures :)
The other day I went to the Dome of the Rock and it was so amazing. I remember learning about it in our Art history class but to bad that I don't remember what I learned in that class but I still enjoyed walking around and being amazed by the mosaics. We are not allowed to go inside but apparently if you pay them enough you can get a peek inside, so I guess we will see how much you have to pay. Or you could lie and say your muslim, but we decided that we would probably get struck down by lightning if we lie to get into a holy site.
Lindsey did a ramparts walk, I had Arabic class but it is where you walk around the top of the old city wall. She took some great pictures ( a few slightly cheesy pictures).
The Jerusalem Center has a great view and we get to eat outside everyday and look over the Old city. The weather has been really nice lately and it hasn't gotten too hot. But I know that soon enough I know that we will be scorched! The food here at the center is amazing and so now me and Lindsey are trying to cut back and eat in proportions so we don't swell up like balloons. We also started P90X in the mornings with Kimberly and Elise. We were sooo sore the first few days.
So apparently Mount Scopus (the hill that we live on) is a migratory place for Vipers.....yes, the snakes. After we learned this Lindsey was opening our back door to our balcony and she screamed and scared all of us. She immediately thought viper but then it turned out to be just the curtains. Easy mistake.
Tonight we go on a field trip to the Western wall! We are both really excited, friday nights are the beginning of the Sabbaths here so a lot of people come into the city to pray. We are not allowed to take pictures though because according to their religion they are not allowed to do work or use technology so we can't take pictures.
Lindsey is doing great in her Hebrew class and learned a wonderful song on how to greet someone. I love my Arabic class and I love my teacher he is really funny. I think our favorite class would have to be our Old Testament class. We learn so much each class period and he puts it in terms that it is easy to understand.
Jenna- I am so sorry to hear about your apt! That sounds miserable. How are the things going on now? Has the snoring girl moved out yet? I didn't think that I would ever miss the University Villa that much. How is Bean? I have to admit that I miss having an animal in my life. The only thing that we get to see are diseased cats and dogs. If you ever find a dress or plan any parts of your wedding keep us posted. I would love to see pictures and such. When do you and Jonathan move to San Fran? Of course I have never been in a relationship but I feel like everyone goes through the hard times and you guys will be fine.
Mela- I love reading your blog and seeing your pictures! It sounds like you are having an amazing time over there! I am still not sure how we got the misconspetion with you and russ but I am glad that things are still going strong. (jenna- we heard through the grapevine that they broke up but they didn't) How much longer do you have over there?
We seem to never have enough time over here and we are always tired. I am starting to master the 10 minute nap. Our classes required A TON of reading so we are always doing that but we also have all these places in Jerusalem that we have to go see. And we want to go out to the city everyday. It is hard to balance it all. We work out at 5:30 and then have breakfast at 7 and classes throughout the day. We are turning into grandmas, when 10 pm rolls around we are ready to go to bed.
Well linds and I have a meeting with the bishop right to get our callings, we are nervous and we do not want any teaching position. I am hoping ward greeter!

The long lost roomie
It's Jenna.
I'm laying in bed with Bean crashed on my shoulder right now. It's 1:10 AM in Provo, UT. I've been staying up way past my bedtime recently. A lot of it has to do with Jonathon's job but I also have this crazy little puppy who all of a sudden decided to have a personality.
Provo is still Provo. Things are still things. But life is movin. You guys wouldn't even believe the apartment I'm in. I never thought that I could miss University Villa, but by the second night I was here I was crying to Jonathon to not make me stay overnight. I know, it sounds ridiculous to me now but it was a little overwhelming at the beginning.
The management is really unorganized so the current tenants had no idea I was moving in. The girl's contract that I was taking (a certifiable shotput player. or female wrestler) was still living in my room. For the first 6 days I was rooming with Nancy.
Nancy is at least 45 years old. She leaves sometimes but most of the time she is on the computer. She studies computer science at UVU. She also eats in the room for every meal (yikes!), and she snores like a bear. Never heard anything like it. She really is very nice though. Doesn't talk much. She did yell at Jonathon for using our bathroom. No double sleepovers here.
The first thing I noticed when I got here was the smell. Melissa, you would have died. It was like hot dogs, maple syrup, and tuna fish. Sometimes it even smelled like hairspray and BO. I finally figured out that it was coming from the stove vent which hadn't been cleaned since the 1980's (along with the stove). I am proud to say I took an entire day scrubbing the apartment down, vacuuming, and organizing. 4 rolls of paper towel later its not so bad. Although, the stove is still sort of unspeakable.
There are 3 other dogs living here. It's kind of a mad house, and I'm pretty sure it's illegal. Now that the Trunchable girl moved out though, all of my roommates are nice and respectful. I'm even in another room now, although I can still hear Nancy snoring.
So I suppose this sounds a bit negative, and that wasn't my intention. I think its been an adjustment but I'm and I know this is temporary. Plus, I thought you guys might get a kick out of the thought of me pulling a Snow White on the place.
Things between Jonathon and I have been difficult. I won't sugarcoat it. It's hard. But I really love the guy more than ever. We're working through our challenges and becoming a lot stronger as individuals and as a couple. Sorry if that sounds cheesy.
Yesterday was the day I was supposed to arrive in Paris. I think it finally hit me yesterday and today. I've been seeing Claire posting pictures online and it is definitely hard to look at. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I missed out on and I'm pretty sad about it. I am so happy that all of you guys are out there doing your thing though. You guys should really be proud of the things that you have accomplished and the things you are going to do.
For me, right now things are pretty normal. I'm not sure what lies ahead. I'm scared, I won't lie. I am looking forward to change but also anxious as to what surprises will arise. Nothing ever works out perfectly of course. But I have a really good person in my life right now and a [sometimes] really good little puppy, not to mention a great family and supportive friends.
I really do miss you guys even though you packed away my stuff. Haha, okay okay, no hard feelings here. Seriously, things were rough this past year but you guys meant a lot to me. Jonathon and I ran into Linds at Cafe Rio (obvi) and both felt really excited to see a familiar face even though it had only been a few days since we had parted.
As for wedding plans, ughhhh. It's hard planning a wedding. Especially when you want it to be kind of cool but not expensive. I just want to win the lottery guys.
If you happen to find some cash in the rainforest or Dead Sea, hollllaaaaa.
Love,
Jenna and sleepy Bean
p.s. We went to a baby animal party at Thanksgiving Point today. Pics soon to come.

WTF No Yogurtland in Ecuador
I am super jel that there is a yogurtland there! My trip has been amazing so far. Rather than tell you all about it over the blog though, you guys should just look at my blog :)
It has to be on private because of the strict photo policy but just facebook me your email address and I can add you to the people who can view it. I can't believe you guys got assigned to be roommates! That's a crazy coincidence. I'm so excited for you two though! How are classes?? I thought I knew Spanish pretty well until I got here. I can sort of communicate but people mumble so much and it's really difficult to understand. Plus kids that speak English are hard to understand, so Spanish-speakers are even worse for me. But the little niños are soooo much cuter than any white baby I've ever seen. Sooooo fat with full heads of hair! It's positively great. One girl here that I immediately clicked with is named Leslie and she and I are sups tight. She totes uses abbrevs too! Match made in heaven. And we made a workout plan together starring Jillian Michaels. It's great.
Jenna, how are you?? How is Provo? Wedding plans coming along nicely?? I hope everything is going great for you and Bean in your new apartment. I miss you both a ton!

Hey we made it!
Hey Jenna and Melissa,
Lindsey and I made it to Jerusalem and we are having a great time. We were assigned to be roommates and we got to sit next to each other on all of the flights! Which is awesome and we are loving being together. We are pretty tired but we walked around the old city and toured parts of Jerusalem. We have 2 other roommates and we have met one so far and she is really cool. We can't believe that we are here!! It is just starting to hit us.
Melissa today we went to the new Jerusalem area and they had a Yogurtland and we immediately thought of you! Tomorrow is the Sabbath for us so that will be interesting.
Our classes begin on Sunday and we have most of the same classes.
How are you guys? I hope that all is going well and you guys should update the blog so we know what is going on! We miss you guys and love you!

Lindsey just tried to pour water from a water bottle on Jenna's chest.
Lindsey: "Your boobs are just so big now!"
Jenna: "I know! If you pour water on them they will just hold it like a little shelf. It's just like a little water oasis or something!"

Jenna on McDonald's
While listening to classical music on Pandora today, an advertisement for Pandora came on.
Jenna: "Ugh, I hate Pandora. Especially when they have ads for McDonald's."
Me: "Jenna, you love McDonald's. You eat there all the time."
Jenna: "I don't want to talk about it, it's a sketchy area of my life. I just hate when they talk about their chipotle angus blah blah blah heartworm burger. Like, too many things in the name of it. It just grosses me out."

My Tears
I almost feel bad posting this one but..... it was a funny quote. Lindsey was having a rough day yesterday and having a mini life crisis. While she was crying she told me that she has cried so much lately that if we saved all of her tears that she would be able to fix the water shortage in Africa.
Thank you Lindsey for your humanitarian efforts.

Just Another Day in Apt. 65
Today Lindsey came in my room to clip her fingernails. She was clipping them a good distance away from me, but one clipping somehow shot several feet across the room, hitting my hand and landing on the keyboard of my laptop. Not okay. Shortly before this occurred, Jenna says she has a headache and she just needs...heroine.
Then Katie and I looked at all the adorbs boots on sale at Urban Outfitters, where she one day hopes to be a model.
Typical.

Super Cute Pics. Totes.

When I look at the last one, all that I think is "I am weird." Which I am pretty sure that I heard from the other room a few minutes ago.

Jenna and her Conversation with Jonathan
So while I was sitting on the couch writing my Candide Essay I was ease dropping on Jenna and Jonathan's conversation on their perspective on being humans, animals, and multiple random things. Classic Jenna Comments:
" I wouldn't want to be an animal because they don't get to enjoy Cafe Rio, they have to go out and kill their own food."
"I should just be a permanent infant."
"Jonathan you can't be a fish, they don't have feelings and don't buy a rodent then we would both walk around smelling like rodents."
"You know how I am abusive......it's how I show love. I am glad I am a girl and can say that cause guys can't say that."
