Hey Roomies!
So we are sitting in our Islam class and our professor is taking really fast and it is way over our heads, so Lindsey is writing jenny and I decided to update you guys on our adventures :)
The other day I went to the Dome of the Rock and it was so amazing. I remember learning about it in our Art history class but to bad that I don't remember what I learned in that class but I still enjoyed walking around and being amazed by the mosaics. We are not allowed to go inside but apparently if you pay them enough you can get a peek inside, so I guess we will see how much you have to pay. Or you could lie and say your muslim, but we decided that we would probably get struck down by lightning if we lie to get into a holy site.
Lindsey did a ramparts walk, I had Arabic class but it is where you walk around the top of the old city wall. She took some great pictures ( a few slightly cheesy pictures).
The Jerusalem Center has a great view and we get to eat outside everyday and look over the Old city. The weather has been really nice lately and it hasn't gotten too hot. But I know that soon enough I know that we will be scorched! The food here at the center is amazing and so now me and Lindsey are trying to cut back and eat in proportions so we don't swell up like balloons. We also started P90X in the mornings with Kimberly and Elise. We were sooo sore the first few days.
So apparently Mount Scopus (the hill that we live on) is a migratory place for Vipers.....yes, the snakes. After we learned this Lindsey was opening our back door to our balcony and she screamed and scared all of us. She immediately thought viper but then it turned out to be just the curtains. Easy mistake.
Tonight we go on a field trip to the Western wall! We are both really excited, friday nights are the beginning of the Sabbaths here so a lot of people come into the city to pray. We are not allowed to take pictures though because according to their religion they are not allowed to do work or use technology so we can't take pictures.
Lindsey is doing great in her Hebrew class and learned a wonderful song on how to greet someone. I love my Arabic class and I love my teacher he is really funny. I think our favorite class would have to be our Old Testament class. We learn so much each class period and he puts it in terms that it is easy to understand.
Jenna- I am so sorry to hear about your apt! That sounds miserable. How are the things going on now? Has the snoring girl moved out yet? I didn't think that I would ever miss the University Villa that much. How is Bean? I have to admit that I miss having an animal in my life. The only thing that we get to see are diseased cats and dogs. If you ever find a dress or plan any parts of your wedding keep us posted. I would love to see pictures and such. When do you and Jonathan move to San Fran? Of course I have never been in a relationship but I feel like everyone goes through the hard times and you guys will be fine.
Mela- I love reading your blog and seeing your pictures! It sounds like you are having an amazing time over there! I am still not sure how we got the misconspetion with you and russ but I am glad that things are still going strong. (jenna- we heard through the grapevine that they broke up but they didn't) How much longer do you have over there?
We seem to never have enough time over here and we are always tired. I am starting to master the 10 minute nap. Our classes required A TON of reading so we are always doing that but we also have all these places in Jerusalem that we have to go see. And we want to go out to the city everyday. It is hard to balance it all. We work out at 5:30 and then have breakfast at 7 and classes throughout the day. We are turning into grandmas, when 10 pm rolls around we are ready to go to bed.
Well linds and I have a meeting with the bishop right to get our callings, we are nervous and we do not want any teaching position. I am hoping ward greeter!
